Stars, Carrots, and Gymnasts

Last weekend Jon and I got up at 1:00 am to go watch the Perseid meteor shower. We drove all around Orem and Provo trying to find a spot that wasn't too bright to see the stars, with little luck. When we finally did stop, we didn't end up seeing any meteors so we drove back home. I was kind of disappointed since I had been wanting to try out my camera with the stars and it was smoky and cloudy so I didn't get very good practice, but oh well. Maybe next year.

Have we posted enough about our garden yet? I'm pretty sure this has to be the 5th or 6th time, so I'm sorry if you are sick of hearing about it, but it is pretty much the most exciting thing happening in our lives at the moment. For a while there we were starting to get discouraged because it was nearing the end of the summer and we were seeing few results. But our patience has paid off!!

Our one pumpkin (out of the 4 pumpkin plants we planted). Isn't it beautiful so far?

Cantaloupe!

Corn!

Cucumbers!

And some surprise carrots! We planted some back in May but then we thought we had planted them wrong so we didn't expect any to come up. It was a wonderful surprise (please ignore the weeds).

We have already started harvesting the corn and we had some tonight with our dinner. They were delicious!!!

Sometimes on Sunday evenings we go over to visit my sister, brother-in-law, and adorable nephew. We usually start out the evening by going on a walk with them. Last Sunday while on such a walk (the Olympics having just ended), one thing led to another and....

Aren't Jon and Chance good sports? :)
