First Week of School and New Milestones

Crew got another tooth this week. This time on top. But the biggest news from this week is that Crew started crawling!!!

It's still a little awkward and slow going, but he's doing it! I'm happy and sad at the same time. He's growing too fast! And now we have to keep a closer eye on him!

Jon also started school this week. He is suuuuuper busy! Full time work and full time school has really eaten up all of his time! We didn't really get to spend any time with him until Saturday night! This is going to be hard to get used to. But he seems to like his classes and I know he is going to do well. He's such a smarty pants.
In other news. Crew's Halloween costume came in the mail today! And Jon and I just about have everything we need for our costumes! I just have a little sewing to do. I'm so excited! But we still aren't telling anyone what we are gonna be yet. It's a surprise. Anyway, here are some pictures from the week:
We went on a walk with Kaileigh and a couple of the neighbor girls.

Just woke up from nap! Look at those cute legs!

Again with the leg. They are just so cute and kissable!

So tired!
Mamie found our ticklish spots...

Finally got him to wear his helmet. Although he is constantly trying to take it off.

We love watching Uncle Bridger play the piano.

Jon's Last Week of Summer

Jon is starting school again tomorrow. With working full time and taking 15 credit hours, I doubt Crew and I will get much time with him this fall. He worked a lot this week, but whenever he was home, we tried to take full advantage of our time together!! Here are some pictures from our week:

Visiting with cousins (Laykin)

Shampoo time!

August 29th is my brother, Brigham's, birthday. Since he is on a mission, my parents are sending him a big package which included pictures of each family holding a sign saying what our favorite thing about him was.

More cousin time. Crew and I went to Britian's first soccer practice. This was on the way home with Britian and Kannon.

Later that night we visited the chickens again. Kannon got to hold one.

This is Crew's new favorite sleeping position. On his knees.

Ramen noodles is quickly becoming a favorite!

This is Kaileigh. She is 7 years old and she is pretty much Crew's best friend. She lives across the hall from us and Crew gets so excited when he sees her. She is his favorite of all the neighborhood children, and she loves him right back. School has started back up again so we don't get as much time with her as we used to but Crew still loves her just the same and they still play together when they can!

(This video would have been longer but another mom at the park was trying to talk to me so I cut it short)

Remember how he props up his feet in the stroller? Now it's the swing too.

We went to Nielson's Grove one evening to feed ducks.

Crew's first time going down a slide:

See all that stuff around his mouth? It's dirt.
... from eating this rock.

Still loves fries (thank you Papa for buying them for me!)
It took forever, but Jon and I have been saving up all summer for this bike trailer and we finally got it this weekend! We thought Crew would scream and hate it but he didn't even peep out a single complaint and just sat in it as if he had done it every day since the summer started! He's a natural! I know the summer is almost over, but at least now we have one so we are prepared for next summer and the years after that!

Putting it together with Daddy

We bought him a helmet too, but he HATES it. So we will slowly work on that.

We spent our last evening with Daddy feeding the ducks and laying around in the grass just loving on him.

We will miss our free time with Daddy but are so proud of him and how hard he works to fulfill his goals and support our family!

Snapshots

Snapshots from Monday:

Ha ha poor baby. He's such a good sport.

We went over to my parents house in the afternoon and Crew just about died of happiness when he found Mamie's new, giant Sesame Street Book!

Later that evening Jon came home and we decided to go feed the ducks at the Botany Pond at BYU again. It looked like storm clouds were gathering but we decided to risk it anyway. We parked a little further away than we realized and it took us quite a while to walk from our car to the pond. On the way, the wind started up really strong and we felt some rain drops. Then there was thunder. By the time we got to the pond we decided that we better go home. Jon ran back to get the car. The wind was so strong that tree branches were breaking and falling down all around Crew and I. I tried to feed the ducks anyway, since we were there. about 2 minutes before Jon came back with the car, the wind suddenly died down, the rain slowed, and the sun came back out! We laughed about it and were able to stick around to feed the ducks even longer.

Those aren't bushes. They are fallen branches.

Rainbow on the drive home
Afterwards, we stopped by my parents house and mowed the lawn for them. While Jon was mowing, my mom took Crew and I over to a neighbors house to feed their chickens while they were out of town. Crew loved seeing the chickens! It was his first time seeing them in real life. Before then it was always in pictures books and hearing Jon or I try to make the sound. He smiled so big!

On Tuesday Jon worked all day and late into the night so it was just Crew and I all day. Not even the neighborhood kids came outside that day so we really got a lot of extra one on one time. We went to the library, the grocery store, and on a long walk around the block. We swung on the swings and played with bubbles and laid in the grass doing nothing. It was a nice day. Also, Crew decided maybe solids aren't all THAT bad. He's been pretty stubborn about eating any kinds of solids. He hates everything we've tried to give him. I finally gave up a couple of weeks ago and decided to take a break for a while. Then today we tried apple sauce. And it was a success!! Let's hope it sticks this time!

Here are some snap shots from Wednesday:

I went to make my bed and came back to find Crew in Nookie Heaven
We stopped by Coney's to see Emilee!

First toy car! Annnnnnd it goes straight into his mouth.

Reading time with Daddy

We went on a walk through the mall and had fun in the baby hats section.

I don't have any pictures from Thursday, but I am pretty sure that was the day that Crew's first tooth made it's grand appearance! It's still just a little tiny one just barely poking through, but it's definitely there! I don't have a picture because there is no way he is going to let me pull down his lip long enough to get a clear picture so I'm not even going to try. Jon worked all day so we didn't seem him that day.

Friday snapshots:

Mom, I need more toys!
Crew said his first word: Mama! We're still not sure if he knows exactly what it means, so I don't know if it really counts as his first word, but it was definitely deliberate and not just him babbling out things that sounded like real words. I got a video of him doing it, but you have to listen close. And it's not as clear as the times he said it before I pulled out the camera. Too bad.

Later on we went to the mall to look for something for our Halloween Costumes and we stopped by the food court to get some dinner. That's when Crew discovered the magic of fries...

Then we ran to Walmart to do our weekly grocery shopping and I caught a cute video of Jon making Crew laugh on the way home.

Saturday night we went out to dinner at Red Robin with my friend Lacey and her husband whose name is also Jonathan. Luckily he goes by his full name, Jonathan, so there isn't any confusion. We had a good time and I think we are going to need to get together more often! Again, Crew definitely enjoyed the fries there. No picture from the date, but here is a pic I caught of Crew earlier that morning playing with his cars.

Today, Sunday, we set Crew down on the ground during Sunday school in church. He was REALLY trying extra hard to crawl! I snuck in this little video. He's getting so close!!

Later in the evening we drove up to Riverton for a quick visit. We set Crew on the doorstep and rang the doorbell and then Jon and I hid. His family really got a kick out of that. Crew is still getting used to Grandma and Grandpa's house, plus he is still teething and it was getting close to his bedtime, so he was a little clingy, but eventually he got comfortable enough to play ball with Uncle Matt. I think he really likes Matt. And Matt was so sweet to sit and play with him.

And that was our week!

9 Months

Yes, it's true. Our little cuddle bug turned 9 months old on August 2. He still isn't a big fan of solid foods, and he loves making faces and gagging when we do manage to get them in his mouth. He STILL loves reading more than anything else, but being outside is a close second. He always wants to be held and carried around. Still no teeth but he drools and chews on everything he can get his hands on. I mean EVERYTHING. He likes it when we play peek-a-boo with him, and he still isn't a big fan of his car seat. At his 9 month appointment he weighed in at 23.9 lbs in the 95%. We love this chunky monkey!

Yep. That was the best picture we could get of him. He's not crawling yet, but that doesn't mean he hasn't figured out how to get around. He kept rolling over the second we would lay him down. Nothing we did could keep him there for very long. Technically, this should be his realistic 9 month picture:
