Togo the Turtle

For those of you who don't know, I'm obsessed with Turtles. They have been my favorite animal since Junior High and I don't think that is ever going to change. Big turtles, small turtles, tortoises and sea turtles, you name it. If it is a turtle, I'm in love with it. When I was 16 and got my first job at Coney's Frozen Custard in Orem, my coworkers and I came up with a little inside joke. One day one of my coworkers wrote "To Go" on an order, and circled it with lines coming out to emphasize the importance of it. Well, he wrote the two words close together so it looked like "Togo" and the circle with the lines looked like a turtle. I don't remember exactly how, but we eventually came to the conclusion that "Togo the Turtle" was the unofficial mascot of Coneys. One thing let to another and from then on my coworkers and friends decided that any turtle we saw was always secretly named Togo.

When Jon and I started dating, it didn't take him long to discover my obsession with turtles. When we got married, he promised me that one day he would get me my very own turtle. And when I say "one day," I mean that Jon and I were thinking like 10 years from now.

Well, a couple weeks ago I got a text from my sister saying that she found a guy who was selling baby turtles for really cheap. I called Jon and told him about it, and by the end of that night we had a new member of the family.

Meet Togo!

These pictures were taken a couple days after we got him. Since then, he has gotten a little darker in color.

Here is a video of him eating. And yes, there are a lot of floaties. He doesn't eat with his mouth closed.
Ha ha ha.

Isn't he awesome???
