Valentines Day 2014

Okay, it's time to play catch-up on this blog! February seemed like it was so busy and at the same time nothing happened! How is that possible? I have no idea. But if I had to guess, it would probably be because we were constantly on the go with school and work (Jon is always either at work, school, or doing homework-nonstop! and my work keeps having competitions so we are way busier that usual and by the time I get home I am ready for bed!) but aside from that whenever we had free time we mostly were too tired to do anything but sit and watch a movie at home. But anyway, onto the good stuff:

For Valentines Day this year, I did my own version of "14 Days of Valentines."  Every night after Jon fell asleep I would leave a little note or treat for him to see in the morning. I think he really liked it.

I also made peanut butter cookies with chocolate hearts. I tried out this new recipe that is supposed to make super soft cookies instead of the kind that turn hard after a few hours. They turned out great and everyone we shared them with loved them!

That night we went to Applebee's for dinner, and then Jon took me to the lake and we went on a nice little walk on the trail nearby. It was nice and relaxing. Just what we needed!

We took the night off from working at the temple (which turned out to be a good decision because apparently they were not busy at all that night and sent most of the workers home early anyway) and did some grocery shopping before going home and watching some Netflix. I love my husband so much and I am so grateful for all the hard work he does for us. He always has our future in mind and I am so grateful I get to be with him for eternity!

January Photo Dump

Not too many pictures this month. January was very uneventful. But here is what we have:

Can you tell I've been dieting?

We got to babysit Laykin for a little bit while the rest of their family ran some errands. She was perfect for us!

This is how long it takes Jon to down an entire 4-piece waffle complete with butter and syrup.

I made cookies with Britian

...He ate more batter than he ate cookies

After a nightly work out at the gym. I know. Gross.

Boring, But A Little Funny

Why do the early months of the year pass by so slowly and uneventfully? January, February, and March always seem to tediously drag on and on with nothing to show for them.  It's not that I haven't had time or have forgotten to blog, it's just that nothing eventful has happened! Work, Dinner, Clean, Gym, shower, bed. Every day. That's it. Boring!

But I will stop complaining. About a week ago something a little funny did actually happen. I don't even remember what it was, but Jon made a comment that COULD have been taken in the wrong way. I, knowing Jon and what he really meant by the comment, of course just teased him about it. But I guess he felt like a dork afterwards because while I was in the kitchen cleaning the dishes, I heard singing coming from the living room.  The following is a video of what I heard. You can only see Jon in part of it because I was trying to record it without him seeing. So, without further ado, my hilarious husband:

New Years Resolutions

On New Years Day most of my family met up and went out for brunch at Denny's.

We spent the rest of the day watching movies, and doing a whole lot of nothing, which was nice and relaxing! But before we went to bed that night, we sat down together and made our 2014 New Years Resolutions!

Most of our "Together Goals" are about finances: Saving a certain amount of every paycheck, etc. Then we also really want to get better at consistent family prayer and scripture study. We have always been off and on. 1 day here, 2 days forgetting, 2 days remembering, 1 day forgetting, etc.

My goals include losing some of this lovely muffin top I have worked so hard to create, and finally stop biting my nails! I have been biting them ever since I could chew, and they have always looked awful. I really want to make a big effort to try and stop that this year. It's gonna be hard, but if I can do it, I will be so proud of myself!

Jon made some school goals and also a goal to stop leaving all the lights on in the apartment. He's already doing great! But I already think he's perfect, so I'm biased.
