A Day of Adventure!

Late Sunday night Jon and I decided that we should spend our day off in Salt Lake City, just for the heck of it. So Monday morning we drove to the UTA Trax Station in Sandy and took the trax up to Salt Lake. We started out with the new City Creek Center right across the street from Temple Square. We were really impressed with how big the new mall was, and enjoyed the pretty scenery surrounding the shops.

(This roof opens and closes to let in the fresh air and help cut back on heating and cooling costs)

A little creek runs all the way through the mall. I guess that's why they called it the City CREEK Center. Ha ha.

The Mall was so big! We got a little lost.

But we found lots of interesting things in our wanderings, like this:

And this:

When our tummies started to rumble we made our way to the food court--which was PACKED!!! But we decided to brave it and ordered delicious lunches from Chick-fil-a. We got EXTREMELY lucky and happened to find an empty table to eat at. As we were finishing up, a mall employee came over and asked if we were done. We decided that we were, and she picked up our trays and threw away the garbage for us! My, aren't they rushing everyone in and out?

After lunch we came to the conclusion that we were tired of the crowds, and made our way toward the gateway mall. I may have almost gotten us hit by a trax train on the way, but we eventually made it there safe and sound. And let me tell you, the Gateway mall was EMPTY. I'm afraid the City Creek Center stole all their business!

So then we met up with our friends Mo and Maria and went to Applebees and then back to the City Creek Center where we saw the coolest thing ever! The big fountain at the City Creek Center was actually designed and made by the same people that designed and made the Bellagio fountain in Las Vegas! And this one is ever cooler because it has fire! See for yourselves:

I wish you could hear the music better because it went along with the show, but oh well. You get the idea. Pretty neat, huh? I also took a few more night pictures:

Then we ran across the street to Temple Square because you can't spend a day in Salt Lake City without seeing the beautiful temple!

After that it was back to riding the trax to Sandy, and then driving home. We were tired from all the walking we did, but it was a great adventure!

Sorry if I post too many pictures. I'm a photographer. I get trigger happy with the camera. It's how I document my life.
