For those of you who live in Utah County, I'm sure you remember that HUGE rainstorm we had a few weeks ago that caused flooding in some areas. Well, that happened to be the same day we went to Lagoon with the Baxters. After hearing about the storm on the news and the radio, Jon and I felt like we had lucked out by being gone all day...until we came home late that night to a flooded storage room and entryway.
Well, to make a long story short, our landlord didn't really care very much and told us to wait for a few weeks and she would come and visit to see if the things that needed fixing really needed to be fixed (there were several things in the apartment that had been needing to be fixed for months and she just never got around to it, but the carpet was the last straw). She also gave permission to a renovator to break into our apartment to use our power while we were gone so he could work on renovating the upstairs apartment. So, in short, we decided it was time to move.
Most of our friends and family who had come over to our little apartment have often commented on how we could do better, how small it seemed, how old it was. While those things may have been true, it was still our home. It was the perfect size for just the two of us and we were very comfortable and happy living there. It almost made me upset when people would say bad things about our apartment, because we loved it so much. Despite all the problems we had towards the end, I am really going to miss it. Even though our new apartment is much nicer, the old apartment was perfect for us, and we made so many wonderful memories there.
Moving was not as easy for me as it was for Jon. He was so fed up with the landlord he was just ready to go.
Moving from the apartment was one thing, but the hardest part
for us was leaving the ward. We had grown to love the people in our ward
so much and now we would have to make new friends all over again and
possibly never see our old friends again! That is probably the only
regret about our move. We will miss our cute little apartment and the
wonderful people we have gotten to know here over the past 2 years.

Think of it as the next adventure for your family. :)
ReplyDeleteFirst apartments are always good times. Even though it's hard for you, one thing that is happy for us because of your move is that you guys live closer to us now! Hooray! #silverlinings
